Choosing A Driving Instructor

When looking for a Driving Instructor you should know the following:

Driving Instructors should teach you to “drive” not just “pass the test”. There is a full syllabus produced by the government that Driving Instructors should teach to. Ask to see a copy of it.

Grading

Fully Qualified Driving Instructors are graded four, five, or six. Six is the highest grade. Only 6% of Driving Instructors nationwide are a grade six and I am proud to be one of them. See my grade.

ADI BadgesTrainee Driving Instructors

It is quite possible and legal, for a Trainee Driving Instructor to teach you to drive. However, as they are not yet fully qualified and using you as a guinea pig, would you be happy paying them the same rate as a fully qualified Instructor? A trainee Instructor should inform you they are a trainee when you first meet. A fully qualified Instructor displays a green badge in the window of their car and a trainee Instructor will display a pink badge. Some large driving schools use quite a lot of trainee Instructors.

When you book lessons with me, you can be sure you are booking with a very experienced, fully qualified driving instructor.

Pass Rates

All Driving Instructors have access to their “Pass Rate” via a document produced by government, called a “fault analysis report”. The national pass rate for all learner tests each year is usually around 45%.You can ask to see this report to verify any claims about “ Pass Rates”.

My pass rate over the last four years is 66%, that's well above the national average.
